For the past month and a half, we have been working to raise the money to print "The Dark Age: All the Magic is Gone" #1.
My next comic sits in a strange place between detective noir and urban fantasy, while-- I hope-- being something completely new. Detective Sandra Cash has a chance to discover an impossible truth about the world, it's history, and the possibility of a very different future.
This is my second ongoing comics series, and like with The Deathlings, the entire team was put together on DeviantArt. Line art and covers are by the amazing Rosaria Battiloro (Nachan) and color art is by the lovely Paulina Vassileva (pauscorpi). You can find some art from the series in our galleries here, but it's even easier to find over on our Kickstarter site.
I'm writing today because time in running out. The Kickstarter fundraising platform lets people pre-order, pledge in exchange for prizes, or straight-up donate to creative causes-- but if the project doesn't reach it's goal by the end, nothing changes hands. It's all or nothing.
As of today, there areseven four days left in our Kickstarter, and we have raised an amazing $1,669 $1,738 from literally dozens of amazing and generous people. (Including selling over a hundred copies of our comics.) That means we need to raise another $331 $262 in the next week, or it was all for nothing.
If you can help, for as little as $3, it would mean a lot to us. Literally the difference between printing 2,500 professional copies of this comic book, or not being able to print. This isn't charity, and when done right it's simply a pre-order.
You can even get original artwork by some incredible artists in exchange for your pledge (and along with your copy of the comic). Not just anyone, but some fantastic and well-known deviants!
JonathanWyke is offering a digital commission!
jurithedreamer is offering a finished "sketch". (Hers are amazing!)
* neurotic-elf offered a commission, which has been claimed!
Nachan is offering not one but FOUR original sketches of characters from the book-- that's by the original series artist, no less!
Below are some of the other rewards that are available for your pledge.

Just Make Comics on MakingComics.com - Artist call
(Cross-posted from my Personal Journal)
Today, I'm proud to announce the launch of my new monthly column on MakingComics.com, called Just Make Comics. (Read it to see what that simple title is all about.)
In the first installment, "Get the Project Started" I practice what I preach by doing two important things-- Doing some actual writing, and starting to look for an artist collaborator for the column.
Yes-- as announced in the column, I am looking for an artist partner for short comics and illustrations to complement the written portion of the column every month. Just to show how dedicated I am, I'm conducting the whole process before your
Rooftop Lily: Sketches, Pinups, and Fan Art wanted
I was recently able to put together the last important piece of reference material for my upcoming comic, Rooftop Lily. (I have also outlined the first issue and detail, and am beginning on the rest of the first arc.)
With this milestone, I think the world is ready to see Lily. (I know I am!) So if you are interested in sketching the character, or doing a pin-up, please drop me a note with the best email address to send you a Google Doc!
Rooftop Lily - Lily has a heart so light that her feet barely touch the ground-- and she's starting to spread that feeling. A series of very light, peaceful, romantic vignettes tell the story of a singular
Pencillers for One-Shot Comics
I am looking for pencillers for a number of one-shot comics I have begun writing-- single issues, 20-48 pages each, telling a story that's complete in one issue. These comics will be featured stories in my "Black Label Comics" anthology, and where possible pitched to publishers.
The good news is that three of these books are now getting geared up, but I'd like to keep the others moving. I'm looking for a penciller for each of the following stories.
Flee the Greywood - (48 pages, outline complete) A bloody and terrifying, low fantasy take on the classic "orphan kidnapped by elves/faeries" trope. Elves are horrible sharp-toothed creatures at
Deathlings #1 Review - CBR's Comics Should Be Good
Check out this great review of The Deathlings: Anne's Story #1, over on the Month of Indy Comics at Comics Should Be Good on Comic Book Resources.
I got home late last night after D&D and dinner with friends, to discover that the review had been posted over the weekend. I had sent them the book to review, but had no idea if it would be included-- or that they would say such nice things. It was definitely a great way to head onto a new week!
I hope this will mean some good exposure for the book, and the rest of the team. For my part, reviews like this are the only way I can validate that my writing isn't terrible. I have a real fear that peo
